International Supervision on Temporary Hold Hearings postponed at least until November 21 The stay prevents the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America (UBCJA) from imposing immediate "supervision" over the independent BC Carpenters Union, its 7000 members, and their union's assets. "The stay allows the Labour Board to hear our complaint that this American takeover of an autonomous BC union is hostile, unwarranted, illegal, and unjust. The UBCJA has no mandate, legal or from the membership, to take us over and we must remain vigilant in protecting the members' assets," says Embree, the elected BC Carpenters Union's President.
